Description

Directly across from Ana O Vaatausili Cave lies the mysterious Vaisuatoto Well, meaning "water flows red." Once known for its strangely red-tinted water, the well is tied to the legend of Taotunu, a man who cleaned his atu (skipjack tuna) here before releasing them back into the sea alive. After recent repairs to its stone walls, the well’s water vanished, deepening the mystery of this legendary site.

Highlights

  • Legendary well once known for red water
  • Connected to the tale of Taotunu and his atu fish
  • Mysteriously dried up after restoration work
